The city’s longest-running fashion event, Fashion Art Toronto (FAT), returns to celebrate local creatives.
This year’s multi-arts event took over T3 Bayside from Nov. 14 to 17, featuring runway shows and presentations from 45 designers. Various art installations filled the venue to highlight Canadian artists and brands with vended goods and more. First established in 2005, FAT has come far to celebrate and push boundaries in design.
To kick off the Fall/Winter (F/W) fashion cohort, FAT exhibited the designs of various Canadian designers. Notably, Lindsay King, a Saulteaux, Ojibway and Mohawk designer, kicked off the show with designs that touched on missing and murdered Indigenous women.
House of Dwir followed with their take on genderless fashion, focusing on individualism, inclusivity and creativity with a carefree spirit. Making her runway debut, Jacqueline Bradica showcased intricate designs that effortlessly captivated audiences. Jina Kim’s brand SixNineoSix displayed her F/W Eclipse Reverie Collection with linear and sharp silhouettes. The ecstatic nature of Suburban Deviant changes the show’s pace with vibrant, layered and dream-like looks. Lastly, Narces and Evan Biddell contrast each other with grandiose and oversized designs, embodying modern glamour and sensuality.
Day one of the F/W programming gave attendees an unforgettable experience. Even outside the runway, new identities and innovations were uncovered with audience outfits. Check out these runway designs in this CanCulture-exclusive photo gallery.
