The international spotlight shines brightly on Toronto when TIFF rolls through during the first few weeks of September. Many of the world’s biggest stars, such as Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence and Lady Gaga, grace the festival’s red carpet, radiating both style and glamour. The Trends
Autumn is certainly creeping its way into the air, but that did not stop actresses like Halle Berry, Rosamund Pike and Margot Robbie from rocking florals on the carpet. The Toronto International Film Festival occurs around the same time as New York Fashion Week and both events project the same trend: florals. The favoured trend was popularly worn with light, airy diaphanous fabric embellished with floral embroidery. The various displays of the trend made it clear that florals are not going anywhere anytime soon. Who says you can’t wear florals in the fall?
Lace was also very prominent among the celebrities’ red carpet looks. The fabric is fabulous for style flexibility. How it is worn and designed can either make the person look dainty and graceful or sexy and provocative. On the TIFF carpet, lace was used to embody both looks. Elle Fanning wore a stunning Alexander McQueen baby pink lace-corset dress that made her look ethereal. Meanwhile, Halle Berry and Jennifer Lawrence displayed diametrically opposing looks. Halle Berry wore a sexy plunging Zuhair Murad lace floral top and Jennifer Lawrence channeled a femme fatale persona with a tight black lace-corseted Dolce & Gabbana dress.
